Christian Sex Advice – Sex Toys Allowed?

Chess McDoogle asked:

Among the Christian sex advice sought out by Christian couples, the subject of sex toys often comes up.  Are they allowed in a Christian relationship?  Is it considered sin allowing such things to aid in our intimacy?  Here is some sound Christian sex advice regarding intimacy toys.

Lotions and oils.  Many couples don't realize that sex toys can be as simple as erotic lotions or hot oils.  These are perfectly fine to use during intimacy, and a great, and very simple, way to spice up pleasurable sex.  Videos.  Pornographic videos have also been linked to the category of "toys" or intimacy aids.  These should generally not be allowed in a Christian relationship.  The exception has to do with instructional video which may be explicit in nature, but may provide the couple with the help they need in achieving new, exciting, and pleasurable forms of intimacy. Safety. The vast majority of intimacy aids can be narrowed down to the question - are they safe?  If they present any harm then by all means they should not be allowed to be used during your intimacy.  You definitely want to focus on safety first.  Agreement on toys.  Christian sex advice often stresses that couples should wholeheartedly agree on their positions and practices.  This also holds true for toys.  If one of you is uncomfortable with a particular toy then it should be excluded.  Their are many other pleasure aids available that you should be able to find which you both can agree on and derive added pleasure from. No Substitute.  Finally, intimacy toys should not be a substitute for sex and pleasure between one another.  They should only aid, assist, or compliment the pleasures of sex.
